The going on's ....

One week on from my induction sesh at Next and i have to say i am enjoying it! Getting up at 6-15am isn't as bad as i thought! However, having to start next Friday at 5-30am! may be a different story!!! Having done the job for a week, i now know more about what it involves!! Generally, it is unpacking the deliveries, hanging them up, attaching security tags, putting size cubes on and then placing in the sections in the stockroom! not very challenging, but its a good job at that time in the morning!!So that is what i have been doing all this week, until today...............!! There wasn't much delivery for some reason and therefore it had mostly been done before i got there, so they decided they would show us how to 'stock take' in order to bring more sizes to the shop floor! Much to my delight i was given one of those scanning guns!! Those of you who know about my fasination with tills etc! can imagine the excitment!! haha how sad am i!?!?! I am now looking forward to Monday morning!

Unfortunately, Tim 'the tiger' Henman was knock out of Wimbledon by another unknown!! suprise suprise! but nevermind, he did well, just doesn't seem to be able to take it that bit further! I played tennis for Heworth yesterday against Next Generation! Its very impressive! the facilities (from what i saw) are fantastic! It made me laugh though... there were all these people looking like they had come to get fit and do a bit of exercise, they would stay on court for about half an hour and then go and order a huge burger at the cafe!? whats all that about? They have just undone all the good!! d'oh!! Although, those burgers must have something good in them because we got absolutely wooped!! nevermind eh! can't win 'em all!

Talking to some of the members at Next Generation, they were comparing the swimming pool with other gyms in York and were saying they could all do with some music to help them motivate themselves, which is true! music does seem to be very motivating! I know Michelle uses it in her classroom at school! However, i was then thinking about it some more and came up with this idea? Could you design a visual reality program for swimmers? The devise would (when swimming) have the effect of the swimmer, swimming where ever he/she likes! For example, a swimmer would be seeing the beautiful blue waters of the indian ocean, but infact they are swimming in the not so beautiful water of Yearsley swimming pool!! It would also be alot cheaper than going to the indian ocean!!! I'm not sure how you would go about the technology side of it, but what do you think?? xxx :)

Well...at least the French won't win it!!!!
Even though England have been knocked out of Euro 2004, i feel better knowing that the french aren't going to win it either! hehe

Not much to report really! Had my Induction at Next yesterday which went ok! I start on Monday at 7am!!!!! so i will report back(if i can keep awake!)soon! xxx

Robbed!
I'm not quite sure what to say to be honest! Absolutely gutted about England being knocked out of Euro 2004! and we were well and truely robbed! we should of won it in the 90mins but thanks to some swiss ref, it went to penalties... and i think we all know the rest!... thats the last time i buy a swiss roll!!!!

Picture the scene............
Its raining, cold, very windy and you're stood in the middle of a field, surrounded by horses, cows, sheep, dogs, birds of prey and lots more that you don't know about i'm sure!!... no, you're not having a bad dream! Lucy's been to work again!!! My experience at Malton Show on Thursday was somewhat different to that of the races!! Having said that it was a little easier to sell the papers (not much though!) and we seemed to brighten peoples day, when we added to the end of our selling spiel, '...and a free Kiwi fruit?' not the usual free gift you expect with the evening press eh! a ray of sun shines and the press go all tropical!!!

Felt it was time for a background change!... Hope you like it! Even if the little sign at the top does look like the Texeco petrol station sign! Anyways....

Henmainia is about to hit and England play Croatia tonight! I wonder if this will be Englands year for a bit of success?!? lets hope so!!

At the begining of the summer i got a job at the Evening Press, working for the Press Gang! sounded exciting......at the time! hehe The job involves 'promoting' the evening press at events like the races and agricultural shows etc! I was pleased when my first 'shift' was going to the races! However, i soon realised that maybe i was more made to GO to the races rather than work at them!! hehe No one seems to believe me, but trying to sell newspapers - with a free goody bag!- is quite hard work! especially at the races, when people are there to be seen with their new Gucci handbag and not a bright red Evening Press carrier bag! Anyway, i'm still going and it has got better! However, i had an interview for Next last week and got a phone call today saying i had got that! So, i'm now going to be known as Lucy'2 jobs'Collier! hehe I'm pleased i got the Next job though, not only because its some more money! but you also get 25% discount!!! hehe Uh Oh maybe thats not such a good thing! i'll be spending more than i'm saving!!!! hehe

well, had better go and get ready to cheer the boys on! Come on England! xxx :)

Cricky!!! My first year of uni over! how scary is that!! I landed back in York, on saturday, safe and(reasonably)well! Had a really good last week in the boro! The last saturday was a school disco - sports day! which was quite amusing - from what i can remember! we dressed up as footballers - original i know! but it was a laugh!

Revision and packing were on the cards, during the week! apart from Wednesday night when it was the Netball end of season meal! it was a really good night, we all had sash's which had where we were from ie i was Miss York (i'm not sure why we did that but hey!) and then there were awards for most improved player etc! I was pleasently suprised when they gave me 3rd team player of the year!! not bad eh! :) My last exam was on the thursday, so was good and went home early! hehe

Then Friday... our last day at uni... can you keep it up for 15hours? hmmm well, we did our best! Having been to the Bananna leaf (eat as much as you like chinese!) for lunch we decided to go home and get ready with a couple of bottles of Lambrine (Classy!!) then we headed off the the union to join the rest of the uni for the final fling! it was good to see everyone before summer! and i am pleased to say we lasted about 12 hours, good effort i think! hehe my photos prove what a good time was had...!!! :)

Well, I’m coming up to my last week in my first year of Uni! Scary or what!! Got my first exam tomorrow – sports studies, I just hope I get the essay question on Sport & Regeneration!! Anyway, it should be ok!

Haven’t much news really, my last presentation went quite well, and he seemed quite impressed, so fingers crossed!!

It was the Eurovision song contest on Saturday, what a farce! Why do the UK bother entering! And why would anyone want to enter for the UK! Ok I admit, last year’s entry for the UK – Gemini- were pretty shocking!! But I thought this year the song was good and so is James Fox! It proves that it is purely political when someone dressed as Xena Warrior princess wins! Never mind eh!

It was announced yesterday that London has got onto the shortlist for the 2012 Olympic games bid! Up against, Paris, Madrid, New York and Moscow, I’m not sure if we will get it?! If we do, its going to cost £2.5 billion, to regenerate the East London site! Its not only the stadiums that need to be built ect, but can the London transport system cope? (Listen to me being all political Hehe!) That’s when I came up with the idea! Why not put in a bid for UK Olympics, instead of just one City! Manchester Commonwealth games proved that we could host a games! There are stadiums right across the country that are up to Olympic standard, for different events so why not use them instead of spending an absolute fortune on something that may never be used again…. Millennium Dome ring any bells! Hehe this way, the transport etc problems are also spread out! What do we think?

On that note, I had better get on with my revision! Xxx

Sorry haven't blogged for a couple of weeks! Been very busy at Uni, working and playing hard.....!

Got one of my presentations out of the way now, and i think it went ok, it seemed to be one of the better ones in our group, so hopefully it will all be ok! Got another presentation next week and then 3 exams spread over 2 weeks! so i need to get revising!

Have been to a couple of sports dinners since i last blogged! First was the American Football presentation night! A few of my friends are American footballers so thats how i came to go! It was a laugh, and everyone seemed to have a good time!

Then on Tuesday, it was the Students Union sports awards night at Tall Trees in Yarm! What a night! It was all very posh! and the meal was delish! (Leek soup!!! my favorite! and chicken dinner! Yum yum! hehe) All the teams were there Rugby, Football, Hockey and of course Netball! We got Club of the year, much to the Rugby teams dislike! haha! unlucky! And then colours were given out to people that have done well this season! :) :) :) As you might of guessed by the smiley faces, i got colours! woooooooooh! I was pretty chuffed!!! :) :) :) So all in all it was a good night!

As i sit and write this blog, i feel like i have swallowed a golf ball! I have got tonsilitus at the moment which isnt very nice! I had to go to the walk in centre today because i was feeling so ill, thinking they might give me something to ease the pain, but no... so i am still suffering! hopefully it might clear up soon!........ xxx :)
